"Odyssey Through O2 is a project that started a year and a half ago. A lot of artists and DJ's around the world decided to remix my work and rather than produce a compilation, I got the idea to try and select some of the most exciting ones from the likes of Apollo 440, DJ Cam, TK from Japan, as well as Resistance D and a lot of other artists. They have been mixed by a famous French DJ called Claude Monnet to get a kind of real journey. "
"This is not the third Oxygene, it is something totally different, totally different from a musical point of view and also because for the first time, there is a multimedia interactive concept that is, in a way, a revolution to the interactive world."

Welcome to JArKaos, the Interactive Odyssey a new concept in the multimedia world created by Jean Michel Jarre and ArKaos Inc.
Early 97, Jean Michel Jarre met Arkaos, a young Belgian company who develops visual software generated by music.They decided to unite their talents in creating a unique visual concept to be included in a regular audio CD with which you can play images and effects synchronised to music.
For the first time, instead of only listening to the music, you can react personally to it, in creating your own animated paintings, depending on what the music evokes to you, Your home computer keyboard will instantly become a new visual instrument: each key will generate images and effects which you can play live to any audio track of the CD.
JArKaos is accessible to all, whoever you are: rocket scientist, Mom and the kids, techno freak...
- Insert the CD into your computer (Mac or PC).
- Launch "JArKaos" and follow the instructions.
- Play the keyboard.
More than a CD extra, a CD-ROM or a video.game, Jarkaos is a new step in interactive technology offering its users complete freedom to follow their own intincts and creativity.

We felt that we wanted to go even further and to incorporate elements of organic cookery from the realm of the Loop Guruniverse, creating a paradox to his electronic wizardryŃusing things like drones from Mongolian overtones and Indonesian sensibilities that removed the sound of the present and immersed the whole in antiquity. All topped with strawberries and then sautŽed at gas mark 4 for 40 days and 40 nights. Delicious with cream, very good at double speed and soporific at half speed".

"JMJ is the man who inspired me and thousands of synthesized electronic music lovers around the world to be creative, adventurous, and always a leader. Listening to Oxygene back then was like floating in space without moving a muscle or like being under a waterfall without getting wet. JMJ's music to me is magical, fluid and has endless continuity. I wanted to preserve the feeling and the emotions I got when listening to the original. Moreover, I had to build up a pumping tribal house beat around the core of the track and give it DJ friendly intro/outro parts. The goal was to establish the melody along with all the the drum parts and building them leading to the main hook, then drifting in and out like butter without loosing the essence or fluidity of the original. I had a lot of fun playing all the main parts and adding some variations to the melody. The experience made me truly appreciate the way JMJ writes and composes his music".

"Jean Michel Jarre is someone who originally opened the doors of electronic acceptability to the world's music scene. Along with people like Kraftwerk and Vangelis, Jean Michel Jarre defined the foundation of the modern electronic music scene. With albums like "Oxygene" and "Equinoxe" exuding a fairytale-like perfection that the majority of electronic music stills tries hopelessly to achieve. There is a little bit of Jarre in all of us. Other than a dream come true, working on the remix was a bit spooky! For years you make records putting in whooshes and bleeps using this guy's album like primary colours. There was one point in the middle of the remix where we felt like it could have been any one of the 10 Jarre tracks, not out of similarity, but in the way all of our ideas were resembling a Jarre track in one form or another right down to the presets on the synths".

"Jean Michel Jarre's music has always been a great inspiration of mine. Both his sounds and melodies are very unique and deep, something indescribable in words. Contrary to Jean Michel's original meaning of the title "Oxygene 13", I wanted to express an extreme sense of atmosphere with a theme of oxygen shortage. I'm assuming Jean Michel's original meaning of "Oxygene 13" refers to a peaceful environment, so I took it from the other side. I wanted to make something interesting by maximizing the sensation of tension."
